It’s him! It’s Sven the Continental Glacier!

He was born during the Pleistocene Epoch. It was a long time ago when there was a drop in temperature on the Earth. Sven, however, was in his element in this cold climate.

His family home were the Scandinavian Mountains. In the next thousands of years he became braver and braver in conquering the world. He moved slowly but surely. Sometimes, he retreated, then he returned again. For the first time, he visited Poland 800,000 years ago.

During all that time, he continued to grow. His icy body covered the whole area of today’s Great Britain, Germany, Poland, the Baltic states and part of Russia.

Sven kept working on his mass. At the peak of his career he was even 3 km thick! He was also very heavy. The Earth, literally, collapsed underneath him some few hundred metres. In Scandinavia the Earth’s crust is still recovering from Sven’s presence and keeps rising.

What did Sven do on a daily basis? Obviously, he worked on his body shape! He spent all his time doing just that: when he was moving forward and moving back, even when he was not moving at all. He constantly changed and shaped the areas where he was. The landscapes of Poznań and the Wielkopolska Region are practically solely the result of his work.

He finished his exercise in this area 16,000 years ago when he moved back to the north for good. However, the effects of his actions can still be seen today.
