‘Does it sound the same at the bottom and at the top’

Our ears are able to tell where the sound is coming from. We know for example which way a vehicle is coming from or which tree a chirping bird is sitting in. The reason for it is that the same sound appears to sound differently depending on the circumstances. It sounds different when we hear it from a small distance than when we hear it from far away. Even the time of the year and day can affect sound.

Does height also affect the way we hear sounds? Listen to the sound of the city which we recorded from the pavement in front of Porta Posnania…

…and from the building’s rooftop terrace.
