‘Ears and the noise’

There are more and more cars in the cities. Renovation and construction works contribute to the noise. Horns, bells, hammering – all of this reaches our ears every day. Cities are incredibly loud places.

It is often the case that loud sounds obscure the quiet ones. Including the ones that are important for us. For example, it is hard to talk to someone when we are standing at a busy junction, isn’t it?

When this happens we say that noise masks other sounds.
