Bronek continues his education in the third grade. There are more and more textbooks and other teaching resources available at school. At his teacher’s suggestion the boy makes a drawing for a children’s competition concerning their memories from war.

Since September Janina has been a student at Dąbrówka Gymnasium. She passed her exams which confirmed she demonstrates knowledge allowing her to start education at a secondary school. The school, whose pre-war building was destroyed at the end of the war, is currently located in Różana Street. After school Janina and other students help out with removing debris from a building planned for a hall of residence.

At the beginning of the month, Bałtyk Cinema opens as the sixth cinema in the city. Zenon and Jadwiga decide to go there with the whole family. The cinema screens an American film titled Boys Town. For Bronek this will be the first trip to the cinema.
