Over the centuries, Poznań has welcomed people of different languages, cultures and religions. This shaped the city’s heritage. The process was often peaceful and natural, and affected the everyday lives of the inhabitants: their language, cuisine and customs. Over time, all that was imported, which at first seemed exotic, became our own as if it originated in Poznań.

Can we imagine breakfast without coffee today?
Language without words such as rynek [market square], knajpa [bar] and fajnie [cool]?
City without theatres?
