Zofia Gramz’s ink-on-paper drawings sketch out a record of everyday struggles with reality. The artist seems to maintain a scientific distance, recording what she finds in her field of vision. As a result, she creates a collective portrait of individuals caught up in a cultural game, unwittingly exposed to failure and ridicule, who evaluate one another and continually “improve” themselves to meet excessive expectations. The works draw on the tradition of dark absurdism, brilliantly combining comedy and dread.
