The collection comprises several hundred works of art created by the University’s teachers and graduates – artists whose presence at the University has shaped the school’s identity. This part of the exhibition presents some chosen works by the people connected to the school more than fifty years ago. The accompanying photographs depict them in their own studios – spaces for everyday work, where many important works of art were born.
Marek Glinkowski, Heritage, 2008
Marek Glinkowski is a graphic designer and an author of art installations and objects. In 2002 he graduated from the Faculty of Painting, Graphic Design and Sculpture. In 2012 he received a doctorate. In the years 2006-2021 he was a fellow at the University. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Academy of Art in Szczecin.
Heritage is part of the series Dilemmas, in which the artist explores the issues of identity and belonging of works of art. Who does a work of art belong to and in which language is it talked about? A word written in five languages reminds us that the collected works are not a neutral repertory but objects of constant negotiation between the University and the artist, between the collection and memory, between what was gifted and what it still waiting to be regulated.
