Magdalena Abakanowicz Hurma, 1990-2000 

Magdalena Abakanowicz (1930-2017) was a sculptor, a creator of textile art, a yearslong professor at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Poznan. Her large-scale spatial forms, known as Abakans, were named after her. Her works were exhibited in the biggest art institutions in the world, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, Tate Modern in London and Centre Pompidou in Paris. Today her sculptures can also be seen in important places in Poznan (the Citadel, the square by the Bałtyk skyscraper, at the Poznan International Fair). From 2021 she is the patron of the University of the Arts in Poznan.

Hurma is one of the sculptures depicting an anonymous individual. The artist frequently presented people as part of a crowd, stripped of their individual qualities, identity. By doing so she referred to the anonymity of the human being in the society
