Maria Wołyńska and Zbigniew Wołyński, Stanisław Teisseyre in his studio at the State Higher School of Fine Arts, 1967

Stanisław Teisseyre (1905-1988) was the rector of the University in the years 1947-1950 and 1965-1978. He gathered a remarkable group of pedagogues, who significantly raised the school’s prestige. One of them was Magdalena Abakanowicz. Teisseyre’s artistic and didactic activity has become an inseparable part of the development of the postwar cultural life in Poznan. In his will he bequeathed his works of art and a villa at the Poznan Citadel to UAP.

Stanisław Teisseyre, Searching, 1960

Kept in atmospheric blue tones, the dog sniffing by the water may be seen as a metaphor for the collection, representing an arduous search for tracks, which requires concentration. It also symbolises uncovering things that are hidden and bringing back the memory of the artists whose works comprise the University’s heritage.
