I am

For the last two decades the University’s collection has been enriched with new works of art. Currently, it comprises works made in various techniques, including painting, graphic design and sculpture, as well as several thousands of archival materials. Not only does it constitute material for study and research, but it has also an important cultural value. The works of art are gifts from the artists who were or still are teachers at the University, from their inheritors as well as from graduates. An important part of it is the collection of the University’s former rector Prof. Stanisław Teisseyre, which consists of Teisseyre’s own work as well as the work of artists such as Stanisław Fijałkowski, Piotr Potworowski and Teresa Pągowska.

Marek Glinkowski, I am, 2008

Marek Glinkowski is a graphic designer and an author art installations and objects. In 2002 he graduated from the Faculty of Painting, Graphic Design and Sculpture. In 2012 he received a doctorate. In the years 2006-2021 he was a fellow at the University. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Academy of Art in Szczecin.

I am is part of the series Dilemmas, in which the artist explores the issues of identity and belonging of works of art. The work invites us to take a pause to think about the here and now of the collection, not about what it was in the past or what it could have been, but about what it is at the moment. In this context, the multilingualism can be understood as a variety of voices and perspectives. The collection does not speak just one voice, but many ‘I ams’: the University’s as well as the artists’.
