The path to the luthier’s profession

Benedykt tells us about his path to the profession…

‘I hesitated for a while. I was interested in veterinary medicine. But my dream has always been to do what my grandpa and my dad did. That’s why I graduated with a degree in physics – with specialisation in acoustics – to broaden my horizons and understand certain processes. It helped me in this profession. But there has never been any pressure [from the family].’

…and about his possible successors:

‘My sons received vocational training. They are the fifth generation in the business. By teaching my sons I have fulfilled my responsibilities towards my family. As for my responsibility as a father towards my children, I have fulfilled it by discouraging them from entering the profession. Everyone chose their own path and I think that what they do makes them happy. This is the most important thing for me.’
